So I’ve been having some issues with site and services running slow through Cloudflare. When using my DDNS, or local IP, everything works fine. I’ve tested the Cloudflare settings a ton, but chalked it up to something with the new NAS. Pages would load, but not always complete. And loading times took much longer than expected.
Just recently I decided to delve into the issue again. I had forgotten that I had upgraded my router along with my NAS. After exhausting all avenues, I found the DDOS protection on the router’s firewall was to blame. Apparently it doesn’t play well with Cloudflare.
Hope this helps someone having similar issues.
Thanks! Do you have any options that might work when using a non changable/locked down router (from the ISP)?
I’m not sure about that situation. Many ISPs will have a list of compatible devices you can purchase and use that won’t be locked down. If they are forcing you to use their’s, you can try calling and complain about it. Ask them to modify that setting for you. I don’t think there would be a way to simply bypass their router though.
They also have Cloudflare alternatives you can look into. They might play better with your router. I have not personally tried any, but just do a Google search and you can find plenty. Hope that helps!
